This project involves the transformation of an existing facility to accommodate a package delivery service, with the space being repurposed for product sortation and delivery operations. The extensive scope of work includes architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, and fire protection system upgrades to support the operations of a 24/7 facility.
The facility will feature a fully operational sorting and delivery process. Products are delivered to the site via tractor-trailer trucks, which use the loading dock positions on the truck court side of the building for unloading. Once inside, the products are sorted into designated locations, such as racking or AR fields, and placed into bins. These bins are then placed on mobile “baker racks,” which are rolled out to the loading area where they are loaded into personal vehicles for final delivery. The delivery vehicles are operated by contract workers, with the vehicles not being branded for the facility.
A key feature of the project is the integration of a robotic component to optimize sorting operations. This robotic system will be housed within a designated area, enclosed by fencing around the perimeter of the robotic field. Workstations will be positioned along the exterior of the field, with no employee workstations located within the robotic area. Access gates will be installed around the perimeter to allow for servicing and maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
As a general contractor specializing in commercial tenant upfits, our team is focused on creating a highly efficient, secure, and functional environment for the package delivery service. We are committed to delivering a facility that supports 24/7 operations and incorporates both advanced robotics and traditional operational workflows seamlessly.
